Niven and Pournell have taken Dante's Inferno and given it a sci-fi twist. The basics of Inferno are there, the vestibule of Hell, the concentric circles of Hell, the woods of the suicides and so on.
Picked this up by chance on the cheap. It's a great read and I would recommend.

I have this notion that spoofs and satires ought to be held to a high standard. It can't be that difficult to slip in some jokes and irony into a story, and life tells me that the common man can mock.
