The Joe's muffler turns around his left shoulder, between shots, when Zack puts the money bag on the fallen stagecoach.

When Joe leaves with the money bag, Zack waves to him.

Then the big rock on the left side of the screen has a branch in front of it but no shadow at all.

Zack lights a cigar and turns around the stagecoach and the big rock is a different one, with shadow and no branch any more.

When Zack shoots Joe on horseback, the landscape behind Joe changes from one shot to another.

Joe also falls with no gun in his hands.

Next shot, while he rolls on the ground, the gun appears in his right hand.

After his horse is shot, Joe walks toward Zack and the same big rock which appeared before, with a branch in front of it, reappears between cuts.

The organ that the old lady plays for the children is set on the top of a staircase.

But in some close-up shots the ground is right behind her.

Before he picks up Joe's "wanted" poster, Burden changes the cane to his left hand, and the cane repeatedly switches hands in subsequent shots.

When Matson appears in the mezzanine, behind the candelabrum, he has the arms by his sides.

In the following shot his right arm is folded arising the gun.

When Matson falls from the mezzanine, his hat rolls away from his head.

After the hat appears held around his neck.

After he gets shot and falls from the mezzanine, Matson is turned to his right side.

Next shot he is on back.

When Joe goes up to the bar with Zack and asks for brandy, his left hand is around the hat on the counter with his right hand touching his lips.

In the subsequent shot both hands are in different positions.

Joe falls into the river with a lit cigar in the mouth.

When he comes out the cigar is still lit.

Inside the boat, when Joe is talking with Maxine and drinking, the cup he uses changes hand from one shot to another.

When Chad enters the room to invite Jarrett to lunch Joe grabs his hat and holds it with his hand inside and later as Zach and Joe are heading to the bar Joe stops to grab his hat, remarking Zach would understand why, indicating the gun he carries in it.

The camera shows a glimpse of the inside of the hat however and no gun is visible.

At the Riverboat Casino opening there is a Jazz band playing "When the Saints go Marching In".

Jazz and "Saints" did not appear until after 1900s.

Moe Howard's mouth isn't moving when we hear "Oh, it's her alright.

" When Matson is first talking to Burden about the attempted robbery, he says he lost 6 men.

In the shootout, he lost 8.

Early in the movie when Joe Jarrett is riding away on his horse, there is a white car in the distant background driving from right to left.

It comes out from behind the big rock on the left lower corner of the screen.

When the old lady is playing the organ at the orphanage (c.

18 minutes) none of the organ stops are pulled out, yet the instrument plays normally.

This film, with the Rat Pack, starts out good, but turns into a silly mess by the end. Director Robert Aldrich, used many strange audio edit decisions, but from a cinematography stand-point the film looks beautiful.

Like SERGEANTS 3 (1962), the actual running time (115 minutes) of this 1963 Christmas attraction differs from the official one (124 minutes) – although, in this case, it could well be the result of the lopping off of the Prelude, Intermission, Entr’ Acte and Exit Music pieces. While still in essence an overblown and thinly-plotted ego-trip, it’s certainly more entertaining than the Rat Pack’s previous Western outing.

Unless you are a big fan of Dino and Frankie, there isn't much here to enjoy in this comedy-western with few laughs or excitement. The two stars play rivals fighting over stolen loot, which eventually turns into a fight over a riverboat gambling casino.

Plot: A $100.000 shipment and later a bid about opening a waterfront Casino are the objects of a tug-of-war between Zack Thomas and Joe Jarrett.

4 for Texas is directed by Robert Aldrich who also co-writes the screenplay with Teddi Sherman. It stars Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Anita Ekberg, Ursula Andess and Charles Bronson.

I watched this recently as part of the Ultimate Rat Pack collection that I had purchased a while ago. I couldn't remember if I'd even seen it before although I grew up in the 60s when these flicks were on TV regularly.

This film stars the two biggest members of the so-called 'Rat Pack'--Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. Oddly, the film is a western--and it's very strange to see either of these guys in a western.

The best part of this movie is the five minutes of screen time given to The Three Stooges. It's hilarious, and a welcome relief from the rest of the boring, exhausting, confusing film.

This movie has four stars, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Anita Ekberg and Ursula Andress, so I gave it four stars. Actually two stars are for Dean Martin's attempts to add humor.
