The sailboat that Jung's wife gives him is clearly very modern with Dacron sails, nylon rigging and stainless steel cleats, none of which existed at the time.

When Jung and Freud sail to America, the Statue of Liberty they pass by has a golden torch.

But the statue's original torch, in place till 1984, had portholes in it which were illuminated from within.

Not until 1986 was the current gold-leaf covered torch installed.

The settings and cinematography almost makes one want to need some doctoring if it means hanging out in 1900ish Zurich and Vienna. The scenes on and by the Swiss lake, in particular, are magnificent, therapeutic even.

One word: Horrible. If you were looking for Sigmund Freud and Karl Jung, the fathers of Psychoanalysis and Dream Analysis, you will be sadly, utterly baffled and disappointed.

Call them what you like - docudramas, faction, biopics - the vitality of films based on real-life events is usually constrained by historical facts. "A Dangerous Method" is just another straitjacketed drama relating how the collegial friendship between Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung foundered on various differences.

I wish this film could be released in major theaters sooner than it will be. Both Fassbender and Mortensen are serious actors and the story is incredibly ironic.

This is a historical movie about Carl Jung's relations with Sabina Spielrein, and Freud. There is not big story but one gets a good feeling of development of psychoanalysis at that time Excellent performance of Jung (Michael Fassbender), and Freud (Viggo Mortensen) characters charming.

Probably interesting if you're into the history of psychoanalysis, otherwise dull. I was never drawn in or cared too much what happened.

Although I really wanted to see this film and did find certain things I hadn't know before to be interesting, I would never recommend this movie to anyone. It was quite boring.

A number of reviewers and critics have already stated that the 2011 historical drama "A Dangerous Method" - about the birth of psychoanalysis in the beginning of the 20th century - was a film long in the making by its director, Canadian "body horror" master David Cronenberg.Reviewers and critics have noted that "A Dangerous Method" is admirably restrained - meaning there's no gratuitous sex or extreme violence (common characteristics of much of Cronenberg's past work up until this point).

If you're a psychiatrist, you'll probably enjoy the ideas tossed around in "A Dangerous Method," a 2011 film starring Viggo Mortenson, Keira Knightley, and Michael Fassbender. The film was adapted by Christopher Hampton from his play, which starred Ralph Fiennes in London.
