The plot is quite bland, the first 40 minutes are nonsense, and then it suddenly turns into a Predator knock-off. The English speaking cast seems amateur - their acting is laughable.

Perhaps the most recent entry of weird western genre, this is a wild ride form start to finish. imagine mixing Sergio Leone's spaghetti westerns with science fiction, horror and disturbing scenes, psychedelic drugs, Udo kier as a former nazi with his squad of savage american-eoropean villains and cultural themes of a local brazillian village and the result is Bacurau.

The movie has an interesting storyline, it's easy to digest and entertain if you're no Brazilian, but if you're "my friend"... So many critics to the Brazilian southern people, to the government, to the establishment, to the "foreign colonizer", to the American view of life.

Bacurau is a fragment and a witness of Brazil's history. It is imbibed in a heavy heritage of slavery, exploitation, State neglect and a patrimonialism that has been not solved so far.

When Hollywood shoots cinema-apologies trying to excuse, culturally, the American people from the harm it made to the indigenous inhabitants of the continent, here in the old world this seems too posh, pathetic and perhaps even hypocrite, having in mind it is all still there solely for money-making through box office. It seems the time has finally come for appropriate artistic response from the other side.

I saw this film at the Glasgow Film Festival. It starts out like a South American rural drama and takes about 40 mins before the true story is revealed.

This is one of the movies that it's good to know anything about the story. It has a touch of futurism and kind a Western-sertão feeling, something that you can only see in Bacurau.

Takes way too long to get going and even when it does it never really has any character development or explanation of whats going on.
