Hushpuppy is sharing food with her dad, but she has crumbs on the corners of her lips already.

When Hushpuppy's dad poured drinks for him and Hushpuppy, he placed the plastic container cup in front of him and a cup with handle for Hushpuppy.

Hushpuppy is seen drinking from the cup with handle, but the next shot her dad is drinking from Hushpuppy's cup, and then the next shot is the plastic container cup, then the one with handle again.

During the height of the hurricane scene, Wink challenges the storm, with his rifle, as a means of comforting Hushpuppy and alleviating her fears.

While he is outside in the hurricane winds and rain, only the trees in his immediate vicinity are violently moving.

Trees in the background (perhaps beyond the reach of a wind fan) are perfectly still.

It seems that 9 is a brilliant score I can give. One reason I scored it a nine is that I felt something I can't tell but touched my deep heart.

Hushpuppy (Quvenzhané Wallis) wants to be remembered. She lives in a Louisiana swamp community called the Bathtub with her father Wink.

Beasts of the southern wild is the debut picture of director Benh Zeitlin. it's a story about a six year old girl's life in an unusual, secluded community, that gets flooded after a storm.

I feel like one needs to take some magic mushrooms or something before watching the movie... It was not all bad..

An emotionally charged drama pierced with thin lines of fantasy, Beasts of the Southern Wild is a celebration of life & a satisfying journey of powerful emotions, filmed with great imagination. Featuring a cast of non-actors & an unexperienced crew, very good writing, amazing narration, & strong performances especially by the young Quvenzhane Wallis as an optimistic & highly intelligent little girl who tries to bring balance into her world & learns to survive on the brink of orphanhood.

How I managed to sit through 38 miserable minutes of this film should qualify me for Sainthood. I'm amazed anyone could give it a good review.

My wife and I have been watching "THE Oscars" ever since we were both little children during the Fifties, when the magic of Hollywood was the universal glue that held our respective families together in front of a movie screen and provided a brief escape from the realities of the Cold War and life in general as we knew it. Last year, we were astounded when a little girl from this film was nominated for Best Actress - I neither remember her name nor do I care to (her performance was credible, but certainly not Oscar worthy).

What a delightful, yet funky-weird, crazy messed up movie lol. It's a movie that shouldn't work yet it does due to the great direction and editing.

The cinematography, the writing, emotions, the characters, the actors, everything. This movie has it all.
