Blue Jasmine

I would call it an extremely underrated movie.This movie is an acting masterpiece with fairly good storyline.

As with much Woody Allen, one is hard-pressed to assign genre or precedents and the same applies to the Cate Blanchett performance. Suffering the thousand natural shocks that flesh is heir to, this depiction of the ensuing sea of troubles perhaps places her in the same rarefied atmosphere populated by luminaries like Streep and Rowlands, who despite long resumes did not easily succumb to the tough act to follow problem.

If for no other reason Cate Blanchett's performance is so amazingly powerful it should not be missed........ I enjoyed the entire film.

Since its release in late July, Blue Jasmine has been receiving incredible Oscar buzz, and there was no way I was going to miss out. With this new film, Woody Allen departs from the usual comedy and allures of life in his stories to chase a much more dramatic and realistic look of that life and human nature itself.

I have no idea what movie the people who rated this highly were watching. It certainly wasn't the one that me and a couple hundred other people watched today.

I haven't finished digesting all the movie, nor do I understand all the implications, but I very much got the obvious lessons about greed, money, alcohol, medications, and lying. The fragility of Jasmine, her inability to get a grip on herself and her life, her selfishness and narcissistic personality, Ginger's basic solidness temporarily being messed with by Jasmine, the pathetic men both had to deal with, and the inability of either of them to function as individuals.

No matter how many times he hits and how many times he misses, I look forward to whatever Woody Allen makes each year and the man is still one of the best living directors out there today. He shows that he still has a lot of talent as a filmmaker with his latest Blue Jasmine.

All of the viewer reviews I read about this movie were glowingly positive. And with an outstanding 7.

I will say that director Woody Allen always does make pretty good films they are about the lessons of life, love and relationships it seems as if nothing goes as planned. And with his latest "Blue Jasmine" all of those themes are covered it's a mixed bag of up and down happenings showing that life is no fairy tale.
