When Casey is wondering about the weather for the third straight day of maximum effort, he tells his staff to keep him informed with weather updates.

But when he does so, his lips don't move.

When General Dennis unsuccessfully tries to talk down a crippled bomber, he is shown with a microphone in one hand.

After the bomber crashes, shots of him leaning on a rail with both hands are interspersed with shots of him with one hand still on the microphone.

After the plane General Dennis tried to talk in to a landing crashes, the next scene is an inside shot with the generals discussing allowing staff photographers into a debrief.

On the brick wall in the background, the shadow of a boom mic is clearly seen moving in and out of scene for the entire duration.

When Van Johnson is in Gable's office alone in the very beginning of the film, someone comes in and gives him a model plane and he places it on a shelf behind him.

However, when Gable comes in soon afterwards the shelf is empty.

Sam Wood directed this WWII story that stars Clark Gable as Brigadier General Dennis, who is in charge of a bomber group in England that must undertake a risky but vital mission to destroy German factories that are producing new Jet fighters that could out-gun Allied bombers and turn the tide against them in the war. The bombers will have to fly low, in highly dangerous conditions with likely high casualties, which is a tough sell for the General to convince both civilian and military authorities of its vital importance.

I watched "Command Decision" last night on TCM. It's the first time I've seen this film in over twenty years...

Consider this movie one of the greats in the realm of WWII films.Draws you right into some huge decisions that had to be made in the European theater in WWII and the difficulties encountered while forming our own air force.

Clark Gable leads this all star, all male cast which deals w/a coordinated yet dangerous bombing mission during WWII & the toll it takes on its leaders & its fighting men. Based on a play, sometimes this film veers into stage territory but for the most part the performances carry the day.

Based on a William Haine's Broadway play, COMMAND DECISION is more drama and dialog than war action. There are no women, no dogfights, no actual combat...

In times of war, duty and commitment are called upon first and this 1948 film is no exception to that rule.Clark Gable stars as the hard-nosed general who must decide to bomb 3 German cities that are manufacturing German planes.

Am a big fan of "classic film" (my, and other people's, description for films pre-70s). While heavy watches, a lot of films centred around war are interesting and powerful.

It's a shame this film has been overlooked by viewers and critics for so long. Based on a stage play, it was released at approximately the same time as the also-excellent "12 O-Clock High", with which it has been compared ever since.
