While Don Manuel Arriega and Tom Reese are attempting to place the ring on the bull's horns, it is obvious the horns, which bend and flop, are made of rubber.

While trying to place a ring on the bulls obviously rubber horn, Don Manuel Arriegas horse is shown being gored in the right shoulder, with blood spurting out of the wound.

In subsequent shots there is no sign of any wound.

Additionally, many shots in the scene show lunges by the bull that would have disemboweled the horse had the horns been real.

In a rail car containing the shipment of cattle, Tom Reese, an 'experienced' cattle-handler, attempts to help up a fallen steer by pulling the animal's head so that it can get up on its front legs then, presumably, on to its hind legs.

No bovine will normally get up like this, and it's easier for it, firstly, to raise itself up on its hind legs by lunging forward, then put its front legs under it to stand up.

To help this animal get up, you must lift its rear end by grabbing either the tail root or its backside.

"Cowboy" is a German 35-minute live action short film from almost 10 years ago. The writer and director is Till Kleinert and the two lead actors are Pit Bukowski and Oliver Scherz.

Many other reviewers before me have done some excellent reviews of the film's highlights and main points,I don't have much to add but I'll try. This is a 'fish-out-of-water' story about a naive young man learning about life the hard way,on his first cattle drive.

I am still amazed that this movie was never upgraded to HD quality and released on one of so many cable channels. An excellent cast with a story line that is still current today in small town USA, Randy Quaid, Ted Danson and James Brolin keep us interested throughout this modern Western.

I caught this film at 5 am one morning, and was so glad I did. The story was simple: city slicker joins hardened cowboys for cow drive.

You get a taste of what it was like. The word wild before west is presented rather well here.

There has always been a type of enigma associated with deserted or abandoned places that inexplicably draws and attracts the curious. This short film explores this situation quite effectively through a well written script and great cinematography.

I find this movie neither as wonderful as its advocates say, nor as lousy as its detractors maintain. This is a decent, well-made Western with a good story line that keeps you involved.

I saw this movie many, many years ago on Belgium TV that we received on our network too and loved it then. Taped it an watched it as many times as I could until my VHS recorder broke down.

Can the 'dude' cut the mustard and become a fully functional Cowboy? That is the question of the film.
