I watched Cube first part and exited the concept and its Deadly traps. But this movie is opposite of the first movie.
Trying to give the CUBE an update, HYPERCUBE falls flat. The premise of the movie is intriguing, having 8 stranger wake up in a cube with seemingly no exit, but as the movie progresses, it is revealed as a gimmick adding nothing that we haven't seen in CUBE.
After this movie was over and the credits rolled, my reaction was, "Wow, that was stupid." While actually watching it, though, it was entertaining enough.
Hyper is a prefix meaning "over". It has a common meaning of the extreme of a thing.
This movie is not very good. Unfortunately it does not come close to living up to the promise of the original Cube film.
This film follows the same pattern of the others from this trilogy. Some people trapped in a cube, trying to get out but finding out they actually can't do it, since there's no way out.
I can't believe that the current IMDb rating of 5.6 with over 60,000 votes is genuine.
This movie is not that gripping as its prequel and the reasons are simple. First, the events are too far-fetched and second, the ending ruins the original idea of Vincenzo Natali.
But not as good as the first part (Cube 1997). That's why I give 5/10 because it was just OK.
