The first corpse (found in the moor at the beginning of the film) can clearly be seen breathing.

As the Gardeners sit on the terrace watching Arlena's arrival, Odell calls Myra "Myrna.

" The first time Patrick and Christine Redfern are heard arguing about Patrick's relationship with Arlena, Patrick says "I can't even speak to a pretty woman without you jumping to the conclusion that I'm having an affair with her".

Later when Poirot flashes back to the scene, Patrick is heard saying "I can't even speak to a pretty woman with out you jumping to the conclusion that I'm.

well, having an affair with her.

" The scenes are supposed to be identical but they are not.

In the film, Patrick Redfern was wearing swim briefs ("Speedos") on many occasions (suntanning on the beach, steering a motorboat with Myra Gardener on board), and it is suggested that, since the film was set in the 1930s or 1940s, that the male "overall" swimsuit was "norm", and the "Speedo" type suit was an anachronism.

This is not true; by 1936 (after the Olympics) men started wearing one piece and much tighter fitting "Speedo" suits.

The film is probably set before 1939 (the book was written in 1941), and by this time, fashionable and daring men would have worn this type of swimsuit, particularly to secluded getaways, such as the setting for the movie.

The British star made his debut as the famous sleuth in Death on the Nile four years earlier, since Albert Finney departed after Murder on the Orient Express, this was the next star-studded adaptation of an Agatha Christie book, directed by Guy Hamilton (The Colditz Story, Goldfinger, Battle of Britain, Live and Let Die). Basically, on the North York Moors, a dead woman, later identified as Alice Ruber, is discovered by a hiker, the victim was strangled to death.

In "Evil under the Sun", Belgian detective Poirot embarks on what seems like the perfect combination of work and leisure. His investigation into a modest insurance-related problem moves into an unexpected direction and soon he's giving his little grey cells a serious work-out in order to discover who murdered a stunning actress of dubious morals...

I may be biased ... well I guess I am.

A wonderfully starry Agatha Christie classic. Directed with style by sometimes James Bond director Guy Hamilton.

Guy Hamilton took over directing duties on this third cinematic Hercule Poirot film, adapted from the Agatha Christie novel. Peter Ustinov does return however, investigating a case of a fake diamond for an insurance company that leads to an exotic Adriatic resort where a group of rich and famous people have gathered.

The cast has done far better films. This was embarrassing and I hope they never watched it.

. .

"Evil Under the Sun" is actually one of the better Agatha Christie adaptations though it isn't very highly thought of. Perhaps that's because its 'all star cast' was just a little less 'starry' than usual or maybe it was just too easy to guess whodunit but regardless, it's good camp fun particularly when Maggie Smith and Diana Rigg are on screen better still when they are on screen together.
