This is a fabulous documentary that charts Alex Honnold's awe inspiring attempt to free climb El Capitan in 2017. My hands were sweating for much of this film.
This is one of the best documentaries I've evert seen. It is also one of the scariest films I've ever seen.
My palms were sweating, jae dropped and eyes wide opened from the moment he started the climb till the end. There are not even words to describe what this guy did.
That feeling of dread one gets from being in a situation in which a wrong move means death or very serious injury is not for the feint of heart...Alex conquers that emotion the entire time...
I like the documentary genre but I don't have the time to watch a ton of them and I am really pleased that I picked this one up. "Free Solo" is about Alex Honnold (an accomplished climber) and his desire to climb 'El Captain' in a free solo run.
The film itself is outstanding, and shows so much detail about Alex and his journey.
The climbing stuff is insane. Following his practicing, mental prep and attempts is amazing and the photography is stunning.
I could not believe this guy did what he did. You watch it and you're sure it's gotta be computer-generated.
The best documentary ever made. I was completely riveted throughout, both by the personal story of Alex and by the climbing sequences.
