Gods of Egypt

Action packed, educational and entertaining. I learned a lot about other gods and goddesses of ancient Egypt.

I discovered "Gods of Egypt" when it was suggested by "The Divergent Series: Allegiant" trailer. It's very attractive for a fantasy action adventure movie.

For some strange reason I was wishing for a big budget over the top version of Land of the Pharaohs (1955), with a bit of Cleopatra (1963) and Jason and the Argonauts (1963) thrown in. And true to form, it came pretty close to the campiness of those films!

Let's get this out of the way first: most Egyptian gods and the main character should not have been played by Caucasian (white) actors. I tried my very best to get beyond that, but it was jarring throughout and hurt suspension of disbelief.

Saw this movie at an advanced screening and i would definitely have paid to see this movie. The movie in short is about two brothers (gods) who want to be ruler of Egypt and fight each other for power.

I wanted to give this a 6.5, but I had to choose between 6 and 7 and so I rounded up.

This was a mostly fun movie. A few bad bits of humor and cringe-worthy acting aside, Gods of Egypt is an action/adventure in the spirit of Immortals and Wrath of the Titans.

I enjoyed this over the top extravagant adventure set in Ancient Egypt.Good points: The script cleverly uses the legends of the Egyptian gods.

Super excited about this and really disappointed. Legit more of a laugh than anything else, which is its only entertaining factor to be honest.
