The position of the cigar on Dr.

Douglas Grey's desk.

When Miranda flees from solitary after seeing Chloe and crashing into the two guards, she falls backwards with her head towards the solitary.

In the next shot, she is lying the other way around, fighting.

When Dr.

Pete takes Melinda's blood pressure, the needle on the pressure gauge doesn't move when he inflates the cuff.

When Sheriff Ryan comes to interview Miranda Grey, the bandage on her arm moves from the back of her arm to the forearm, and back again.

When Pete talks to Miranda for the first time after the murder, and is crouched with his back to the cell door, two plastic cups are on the floor.

As he rises, the cups have changed positions.

One is lying on the floor, facing Pete.

In the storm scenes, the rainfall patterns are circular, a sign of rainmaking machines.

When Miranda emerges from the swimming pool where she hiding from the guards, she screams, but her voice doesn't echo throughout the room.

When Miranda enters the shed, she is startled by an owl.

You can hear it fly around.

Owls fly silently.

The length of Miranda's hair changes too much for the three week time span of the main plot in the film.

The cuts on Miranda's arm that spell "NOT ALONE" change starting positions throughout the movie.

"NOT" starts at the elbow, then the wrist, then back to the elbow.

At the end of the movie, they are supposed to be in New York City.

However, as Chloe is getting into the cab, you can see a (partially burnt out) Tim Horton's sign in the background.

Tim Horton's is a Canadian coffee shop not found in New York.

When Miranda arrives at the crime scene in her house after the great escape, her shirt is nearly dry, although she hid herself in the swimming pool a few minutes ago.

When Miranda breaks the window with the screwdriver, the glass shatters on the other side of the door.

When she opens the door and runs, she should have had shards of glass in her feet.

Now, I love scary movies. I love scary movies so much I think I'm a bit more biased about my opinion on them.

"Gothika" is a 2003 mystery horror thriller directed by Mathieu Kassovitz starring Halle Berry and Robert Downey Jr. Films that spin their mysteries around mental institutions have something genuinely fascinating to them, and I am a sucker for such intriguing flicks.

Yeah, like I said (and others here) just let it happen and enjoy. It has some scenes that don't make sense, but they felt they had to do to make the story work and move forward.

That's the enigmatic message Halle Berry gets from the Other Side in this fussily directed but thoroughly uninvolving psychological thriller played out in hushed tones under the impression that straining to catch what people are saying is atmospheric rather than merely tiresome. This film isn't alone either as the camera sweeps along in pursuit of Ms Berry to suitably drab musical accompaniment in the footsteps of countless earlier films raising hopes - but not expectations - that this is all leading somewhere.

Matthieu Kassovitz's underrated chiller Gothika is thick with a horror atmosphere that goes straight for the jugular in terms of scares, a psychological ghost story that actually raises hairs a frightens, or at least did for me. It sometimes sacrifices logic for style, but what style it's got!

The story did not appeal to me, although the subject of abuse in psychiatry offers a lot of potential. Unfortunately, the plot was mostly boring because it was predictable.

The film begins as a promising psychological thriller and in the early stages you are transfixed, intently waiting and trying to anticipate what will happen next.Gothika starts out as a possession film and is hard to find too many faults, creepy asylum with a dark forbidding atmosphere, promising story development and heaps of mystery check, check, check.

Gothika (2003): Another oldie I caught up with. Halle Berry is the psychiatrist who ends up in her own hospital for the criminally insane, accused of murder.

This is a fairly descent crime horror flick starring Halle berry as criminal psychologist Dr. Miranda Grey, who awakens to find herself a patient in the institution where she works.
