Hammer's golden horror period actually starts with The Curse of Frankenstein. Hammer studios had been around since the mid nineteen thirties making a assortment of films for home audiences, a mixture of radio and later television spin-offs, the occasional horror and science Fiction film, mysteries and adventures anything in fact as long as it was small and cheap.

As always Hammer Film Productions guarantee for a great movie and splendid entertainment... If you have not seen all the remakes of the classic horror movies they did in the 50s I strongly recommend you to watch them.

I saw this not only because of the brilliant story but also because of Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, two of the best actors I know. And I was not disappointed at all, in fact although I do have respect for the 1931 film and like the 1992 film this 1958 Dracula is the best version.

Universal Studios created many of the conventions of the horror genre back in the 30's. In the 50's Hammer Studios came along and used this model as a template on which to base their own brand of horror movies on.

I first saw this in the early 90s on a vhs. Revisited it recently.

Considering this was done in 1958 it is darn good. It has two of the best known B movie actors of the horror genre, Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing.

After Jonathan Harker attacks Dracula (Christopher Lee) at his castle (apparently somewhere in Germany), the vampire travels to a nearby city, where he preys on the family of Harker's fiancée.Hammer has done an interesting job with Dracula.

The premiere Hammer horror film and my favorite version of Dracula. The best ingredients of Hammer are on display here -- the magnetic and menacing Christopher Lee the commanding presence of Peter Cushing the intelligent screenplay of Jimmy Sangster the masterful hand of director Terence Fisher.

Terence Fisher was attached to the Hammer House of Horror. In 1957 he made "The curse of Frankenstein" and in 1958 "Horror of Dracula", both with Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing.
