When Behrani is shown working in the convenience store, the Snickers bar he is holding is alternately opened/unopened between shots.

It seems clear from his entry in the ledger he keeps that he has only eaten one.

The morning after Lester and Kathy arrive at the cabin, Kathy emerges from the front door and her long hair is tucked into the back of her shirt.

A moment later, it is loose.

After Esmail is shot, the police officer kicks the gun away twice.

When Esmail turns to face the cops near the end, he has the pistol in his outstretched hands.

There is a cut to the cops, then back to Esmail as they shoot him.

When they shoot him, the gun is not in his hands, and when he hits the stairs after being shot the gun is already on the ground.

Towards the end of the movie when Behrani and his wife are lying dead on the bed, Behrani's eyes open/close repeatedly.

The first time Kathy drives to the house, we see the view of her sitting in her car through the windshield.

As the camera tracks around to the driver's door, the camera operator is reflected in the windshield near the rear view mirror.

At the hospital, when Behrani views Esmail's body.

He kisses his dead son.

As he does Esmail's eye flutters.

When Behrani and Esmail are talking in Esmail's bedroom, the pillow shifts position from horizontally behind the lower lumbar part of Esmail's back, to standing vertically up to Esmail's shoulders, then back to the original horizontal position behind his back.

There is a boom mic clearly visible in numerous scenes near the beginning of the movie - almost distracting, it is so visible, unless this has been corrected before DVD release.

During the scene where Carol gets out of her car and starts attacking Lester, she leaves the car door wide open.

When Lester walks away, the door is closed, but no one ever closed it.

Kathy spills a significant amount of gas at the station when filling the canister, however, when she drives off, there is only a very small amount on the ground.

Newspaper Auction NoticeSeized Property for Sale reads "2BR", yet the man showing the house says it has three bedrooms.

The county may have the right to attach property to satisfy a business tax lien, but the process is nothing like in the movie.

First, the lien is bought by an investor who is paid interest from repayment of the lien or sale of the property.

This usually takes many months or years.

If the property is sold, the money remaining after the lien is paid goes to the property owner or estate - it is certainly not kept by the county.

Ben Kingsley's vague ethnic appearance lends his character credibility here. He has played many, from Indian (Gandhi) to Jewish (Schindler's List) to Maori (Ender's Game), and in this film he is an Iranian refugee, once colonel, that has been forced to pick up the scraps of his and his wife and son's life.

NOTE: This film was recommended to me by Diane Rio for "Steve Pulaski Sees It." It took roughly half an hour before I could become completely immersed in Vadim Perelman's House of Sand and Fog, and after that, I was gone.

House of Sand and Fog (2003): Dir: Vadim Perelman / Cast: Jennifer Connelly, Ben Kingsley, Ron Eldard, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Frances Fisher: Sad and depressing film regarding consequence. It regards what we base our life upon and whether it is worth the consequences that resolve the plot here.

We are told that Kathy Nicolo lost her house through no fault of her own, but she didn't open the communications from the county and she let the house fall into a deplorable state when she lost her husband. Her knight in shining armor planted drugs on a wife beater knowing that was the only way to get him in jail where he belonged.

OMG that was one Intense and beautifully acted movie! This one will keep you riveted from the very start and not let you go as it ramps up and up the emotions and the intensity , coming to a shocking climax that will tear your heart to shreds...

A lesson in how the actions of one individual can affect the lives of so many others. Yes, people make bad decisions every day.
