When Detective Rodriguez splashes Malloy with his water pistol, a girl with a short skirt and red purse hurries by them.

Half a minute later, when Malloy enters the car, the same girl walks by again.

In the final scene, when Frannie is walking home from the lighthouse after escaping the killer, she is barefoot.

When she reaches the garden of her apartment building, she is wearing sandals.

When she reaches her apartment, she's barefoot again.

When Franny sits down with Cornelius the first time and she opens her notebook, the "new word" he gives her is already written there, before he tells her.

A few seconds after Malloy has removed Frannie's panties, she is still wearing them (while he fondles her stomach).

When Malloy gives Frannie his card, she uses a pushpin to secure it on her wall.

Later in a close-up when she is at Pauline's apartment holding Malloy's card, there's no pinhole in the card.

When Franny and Cornelious are talking in the bar, Franny puts on her glasses.

When someone drops a glass on the floor, Franny quickly turns to look and her glasses are gone.

When she turns back to Cornelius they are back on.

John Graham and Frannie are walking down the street, and John is walking his dog on a leash.

The leash disappears briefly when we see John gesturing with both hands.

There is a typo in the credits - "transportation" is spelled "tranportation" (missing the "s").

When Det.

Malloy first meets Frannie, he says the day of the murder was Saturday the 15th.

Later, when Frannie is in the car with Malloy and his partner, the partner says the date of the murder was the 11th.

After Frannie and Malloy's first intimate encounter, Malloy is dressing as Frannie realizes she has lost one of the charms from her bracelet.

Malloy is buttoning his shirt and working on putting on his tie.

When he turns to help Frannie look in the bed, his shirt and tie are on perfectly.

Yet the next shot has him again adjusting the shirt & tie with the collar up.

Towards the end of the movie as Frannie is taken to the lighthouse, it is dark.

There is however, a shot of detective Rodriguez taken from inside the lighthouse towards the door and outside it is daylight.

Franny gets on the A train at W 4 St (you can read the sign on the pole before the train pulls in).

As she is getting on the train, the wall behind her says "Church", a different stop.

"In the Cut" works pretty well on the level of serial-killer-thriller some genuinely gripping moments and a well rounded, albeit rather predictable conclusion. But the murder mystery stuff is not where this film really shines.

...is where the director must have been during the filming of this mediocre movie.

And there I was thinking In the Cut might have had something to do with the sport of Golf – how wrong I was. Accomplished film maker Jane Campion is in the chair for said film, an involving for-the-first-act thriller which mutates into something deeply problematic and then just mutates further still into something quite unpleasant.

The kind where you know from the first five minutes that this is going to be boring tripe, but you watch anyway, because there is supposed to be some hot sex scene! I wish!

Fabulous and much maligned gem, so overlooked and underrated that I had to get my Blu-ray from Germany. I believe I originally saw this at the cinema but remembered little other than how powerful and uncompromising it was.

Sweetheart Meg makes my world shine bright and tick! I wish to experience the world through her eyes, seeing the colors of life through her lens.

Watched only about the first half hour, up to the date scene. So-called feminism seems to make some women, such as the director of this movie, really stupid.

An erotic movie by Jane Campion. Not as good as some of her masterpieces.
