The lamp on the floor while Jerry is doing the handstand switches itself off.

The Arizona Cardinals play Pittsburgh and Indianapolis in the same season twice.

This is impossible in accordance to NFL scheduling, as a team from the NFC (Arizona) cannot play two AFC teams from different divisions (Pittsburgh & Indianapolis).

1996 Philadelphia Eagles logo visible, but players on the field have the old uniforms.

When the Arizona Cardinals play the Philadelphia Eagles, they first show the game from the press box in Philadelphia's Veterans Stadium, a field with AstroTurf.

Later in the sequence they show the same teams playing the same game on grass.

When Jerry arrives at the Cushman house, he's driving a Dodge Intrepid.

When he leaves, he's driving a Pontiac Grand Prix.

Jerry's cut disappears during the sex scene.

When Rod and Jerry are sitting in the airport and Jerry is complaining about his life, a red van outside the window disappears and reappears between shots.

Books in the shelf behind the two lovers change more than once during the sex scene.

Jerry's shirt buttons when in the kitchen.

When Rod Tidwell catches the ball in the end zone and flips over, we see a shot of him from the television camera holding on to the ball with his left hand; when they show him later with the trainers, Rod is holding it with his right.

When Marcee is going to get her baby and they leave the restaurant, Rod catches Ray and his son, one under each arm, and runs out of the restaurant.

Two seconds later the boys have switched places.

The box of stuff that Jerry carries out of his office before "not flipping out" doesn't make it into the elevator when he leaves.

After Jerry takes the fish from the water tank, the level of water in the bag changes several times in the following scenes.

When Jerry is removing the goldfish from the tank, Bob Sugar disappears from behind the tank between shots and is replaced by a completely different group of coworkers.

As Jerry prepares to leave the office after he gets fired, his jacket jumps from buttoned to unbuttoned and back again between shots.

When the group is watching the home video of Rod singing at the wedding, Rod begins to turn in the middle of a lyric and there is a jump cut to him turned the other direction, though his soundtrack is continuous.

When Jerry is kissing Dorothy on the front porch after their date, he accidentally unties her dress and then reties it in a messy knot.

This knot can continue to be seen in the shots from the back throughout the scene, but in the shots from the side, the straps of the dress are clearly tied in a bow.

In the final scene, after Ray throws the baseball over the fence, you see the little leaguers comment on the throw and then turn and run back towards the field.

When the camera later returns to that view (an aerial view), you see them beginning to run away from the fence again.

By that time, the boys should have been out of the view of the camera.

When Dorothy is about to go out with Jerry, she alternately has/doesn't have curly hair on the side of her face.

In Tidwell's final game against the Dallas Cowboys the announcer states that it is second down and one.

In the background the down marker is 1.

It should read a 2 if it is second down.

When Jerry and Rod are in the airport, the amount of beer in the bottle is completely inconsistent with the amount already poured into Rod's glass.

When Jerry and Dorothy are leaving for their dinner date, she has her heels on when her sister stops her to talk.

She then runs to Jerry to the middle of the street and her heels are in her hands.

When Jerry is in Dorothy's house she asks if he wants the frozen mugs, the next time they show the mugs, they are not frozen.

Jerry and Dorothy reach for their rings after being pronounced husband and wife.

Placing the rings on each other is part of the ceremony, not something you do after you're married.

During the scene where Jerry and Rod are talking in the locker room while Rod "air dries", Rod uses and puts away his deodorant twice.

Dorothy's black dress changes style between close ups of her and wider shots of her and Jerry and the others in the kitchen before the date.

When Dorothy and Jerry are in Jerry's office, reflected in the window next to Dorothy is a hand fidgeting with a pen.

This appears to be Jerry's hand, but when the shot cuts to him, he is sitting still and holding papers.

The beginning of the game shows Dave Krieg 17 of the Cards and Troy Aikman of the Cowboys warming up for an actual game Dec 25 '95 in Arizona.

Later the game is shown with Stanbeck playing as 17 for the Cards wearing visiting team colors and it appears the game is now obviously staged with actors for some of the play action in the wrong color uniforms.

They do flip back and forth on visiting team and home team colors.

During the Monday Night Football game between the Arizona Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys, a number of media have tripods on the sidelines.

The NFL bans the use of tripods (folded or unfolded) on field because of safety concerns.

John Coltrane and Miles Davis played in Stockholm in 1960, not 1963.

The music playing during the bedroom scene is neither Coltrane nor Davis, since neither played the trombone.

When Rod tells Jerry to "Show me the Money", he pauses a boom box that is outdoors by a pool.

After we see Jerry's look of shock, Rod is then shown again turning the music back up, but he is inside in the kitchen and it is a different boom box.

Jerry Maguire is not a perfect movie in the sense that it is a masterpiece, but it seems difficult to dislike this movie. Despite being rated R for some swearing and sexual content, this movie deals with the notion of family and is definitely easy enough for a child to watch.

Back in the 1990s a boss having sex with his younger employee was a love story. A female reporter in a men's locker room was used for comedy.

Jerry Maguire (Tom Cruise) is a hotshot sports agent. As such, he wants to get the fattest contracts for his clients because his own salary depends on it.

Tom Cruise plays a big time professional Agent signing the big names. supposedly it's loosely based on a major professional real life agent.

In a career full of high profile movies, "Jerry Maguire" represents perhaps Tom Cruise's single best performance. Playing a sports agent fired from his job after having a moral epiphany, Cruise's effortless charm fits the role perfectly.

I've seen Jerry Maguire a number of times but it was only on my most recent viewing, at the age of 23, that I came to truly appreciate it. Yes it is all the things I described in the title but it is also a charming and original film filled with excellent performances, under the control of a man who knows exactly what story he wants to tell.

Firstly I would like to say that when I first heard about this movie I wasn't excited at all about seeing it. A sports agent that grows a conscience, gets fired and has to rebuild his career and most importantly his life, I thought I was in for a boring couple of hours watching your typical sports drama but how wrong could I have been.

Jerry Maguire (1996): Dir: Cameron Crowe / Cast: Tom Cruise, Renee Zellweger, Cuba Gooding Jr., Jay Mohr, Jonathan Lipnicki: Effective drama about caring for those you do business with as oppose to just making a quick buck.

Jerry Maguire, played by Tom Cruise,is a cocky sports agent. He works for Sports Management International or SMI.
