After Maj.

McCoy and the others have been arrested for possessing a radio, and Col.

Smedley-Taylor is waiting outside for news, the shadow of the boom mic being lowered is cast over the actors in the background.

Just before the camp is liberated we can hear an airplane fly over and it is definitely a propeller operated plane; however, the scene displays a jet flying over complete with vapor trails.

However, the B-29 Bomber is a 4 engined prop plane which flew high enough to leave substantial contrails (30,000ft+).

Bombers normally flew in large formations but this is a single aircraft which may allude to the Enola Gay, which dropped the first Atomic bomb indicating that Japanese surrender imminent.

However, the Enola Gay was accompanied by other B-29s on her atomic bomb raid.

The shoulder patch that Cpl.

King (George Segal) is wearing is that of the 34th Infantry Division(Red Bull).

The 34th ID served in the European Theater of Operations not in the Pacific.

The 34th ID patch is a black Mexican water jug called an "olla" with a red bull's skull superimposed.

The producers may have wanted to use the patch of the Philippine Division commanded by Maj.

Jonathan Wainwright.

This was the unit that surrendered to the Japanese on Bataan.

The Philippine Div.

patch was a red shield with a yellow carabao's head (water buffalo) superimposed.

King keeps his fresh eggs in an open bowl in a suitcase.

They hide the case, before they can re-arrange the contents, in an hidden vault dropping it down sideways and undoubtedly breaking them.

As they do this frequently they will have taken more care of this valuable commodity.

When Max lifts the pot of boiling water from the hot plate he lifts it from the bottom to pour with his bare hand, which he shouldn't be able to do if the pot is hot enough to boil water.

Despite the viciousness of the Nazi regime, British and American prisoners of war captured by the Germans in World War II were generally honourably treated in accordance with the Geneva Convention and given adequate food and accommodation. Those captured by the Japanese were not so lucky.

I don't know exactly what I expected from "King Rat," but what I got definitely wasn't it, and I liked what I got much more than whatever it was I thought I was going to get.I guess I thought "King Rat" was going to be something along the lines of "Stalag 17," a serious story in a serious setting, but with a buddy movie vibe and a lot of comedy thrown in.

George Segal steals the show. A terrific screenplay combined with excellent casting and direction.

KING RAT 1965 This 1965 production from Bryan Forbes is quite frankly, one of the best P.O.

I can count on one hand the number of movies I have seen where I can say the movies is just as good as the book, and King Rat is one of them. This is one of those lost or forgotten movie gems it seems not a lot of people have heard about, yet when they see it are blown away by the story line and the awesome acting that takes place in this film.

Lawrence Kohlberg wrote a controversial and much discussed paper about the stages of moral development at the U. of Chicago in 1958.

There are many WWII prison camp films, but King Rat stands out for its gritty treatment of how prisoners survive in there bleak and painful worlds, where the meaning of hope has long been forgotten. George Segal as Cpl King knows all the angles, and has funds to buy what he wants.

War movie ever made featuring zero war. The pacified harsh treatment they get in the film could be imagined to be even worse in real life.
