Guy Ritchie made his name showing us the exploits of his working class (anti) heroes and, for a while, it seemed like every film was about the 'rougher' element from London.

Indeed. Welcome to the high end world of British drug dealing, made up of low level dealers, "cookers", hit men, and drug barons dressed up as royal blue bloods.

I always find it interesting to go back and watch breakout films by directors who would come into their own years later. In the case of Matthew Vaughn, I have enjoyed his work, which includes Stardust (2007), Kick-Ass (2010), X-Men: First Class (2011), and the Kingsman franchise.

I decided to watch Layer Cake a second time because I could not for the life of me remember why I gave it a rating of 5. Now I feel compelled to jot down a short review as a personal reminder to myself not to watch it again.
