An alien spaceship the size of a dinner plate lands on the building where Margaret (Carlisle) lives and apparently relishes the opiate chemicals released when her various sexual partners orgasm - vaporising them immediately afterwards. This is a cheaply made, colourful quasi acid trip without any obvious merits.

Set against the 80's punk scene, most of the main characters in Liquid Sky work as avant-garde models. If the movement had been as bizarre as depicted in the film, I have no doubt it would still be around today.

I've gone back to Liquid Sky a few times, it's bizarre low budget trash, full of 80's new wave wannabe's, who can't dance and are devoid of acting skills. Chuck in an almost invisible alien presence, that feeds on orgasms....

I was in HS when this came out. We somehow convinced our English teacher to take us to see it as a field trip.

I saw this movie several times when it was released in 1982 at The Waverley in NYC.One of the many things I loved about this movie is the, "rocky horror" experience of watching the audience react to it.

I don't know what to say so let's start with the bad partThe music is awful, oh my god, did they really have to hire a composer who can't compose ?And some characters are not necessarily, for example the West german professor is just there to be a narratorAlso the plot goes no where, it's like drug exploration or somethingIt the good part isThe visuals are stunning, beautiful colors, and really deserves to be called an artistic movie.

I saw this movie in New York in 1982, when it came out. I was only 18, then, a nerdy teen trying to act blasé.

If you thought Ishtar or Empire was the worst movie you ever saw, then you haven't seen Liquid Sky. It is so loathsome you might be driven to violence.

People I've shown or lent this film to on video tend to polarise into two groups - those who loathe it with an intensity bordering on the pathological (and see some of those comments on this site), usually finding it either incomprehensible or repellent and those who find it fascinating and truly original. The second group tend to watch it at least twice and usually more often than that.
