London Has Fallen

As someone who has lived in London for a very long time I always like to watch movies set there so I can look out for recognisable sights. However I always feel aggrieved when things are out of order.

Pretty entertaining action flick. Casablanca its not, but that critic score has more to do with being PC than on the film's entertainment value.

Before he can submit his resignation from the Presidential Protection Division, Secret Serviceman Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) is called back into action to escort President Benjamin Asher (Aaron Eckhart) to London, after the British Prime Minister passes away. The funeral brings the leaders of dozens of countries together in one place, allowing international arms dealer Aamir Barkawi (Alon Aboutboul) to initiate a scheme of mass terror.

London Has Fallen is a pure Hollywood sequel at it's finest. It's predecessor Olympus Has Fallen from 2013 was such a simple blockbuster that left my brain immediately after watching it.

Hands down the most exciting thriller in years. The pace is just right and the story is well laid out by establishing the reason for the attack by taking out the the arms dealer in the beginning.

Movies like this one often receive flack for not having a cinematic narrative to accompany the larger than life display on screen. However, I like to look at movies such as London Has Fallen or last year's Olympus Has Fallen as a way to experience great shallow spectacle and some laughs for a couple of hours.
