Best movie ever. I nearly died.

This is a really great documentary. It's a "Tour de Force of Will".

In these modern days of cinema its only a couple times a year that something cinematicaly beautiful is put onto the screen, and even then its not always so easy to see because these movies are not always playing at your local cinema. Up until this point in 2008 (its December) I really didn't see much in the way of great great Cinema.

On the overcast morning of Aug. 7, 1974, one day before US President Richard Nixon resigned, New York City pedestrians stopped in their tracks to see what looked like an apparition, a man literally walking in the sky.

Philippe Petit is a man of incredible charisma, grace, and focus. We are told in the documentary "Man on Wire" that as a young man sitting in a dentist's office, Petit saw an artist's rendering in a newspaper of the not yet built Twin Towers and became fixated on one day walking from one to the other on a line suspended between the two.

This movie was amazing. I actually cried at some points because it was so beautiful.

"Genius is a transcendent capacity for taking trouble first of all" Frederick the great by Thomas Carlyle "Genius: the mental endowment peculiar to an individual that disposition or aptitude of mind which qualifies a person for a certain kind of action or special success in a given pursuit." Webster's International Dictionary This is Phillip Petit, the 25 year old who in August of 1974 walked a tightrope between the Twin Towers of the WTC.

An inspiring tale and a must see movie! This is a wonderfully told story of one man's dream that draws you in and takes you on the wire!

If someone had asked me if I knew that a person had walked a tight rope between the World Trade Center towers, I would have said yes, although I would not have been able to recall any details about it. It was one of many events that occurred during my lifetime that I somehow absorbed into the "common knowledge" area of my memory.
