This could be a long and positive review. The movie deserves it, the stars of the movie deserve it, the person behind the idea of this movie deserve it, AND, I don't want to say above all (hope you get my drift) Ennio Morricone, the composer of this and over 300 other movie scores deserve it.
An important part of Sergio Leone's signature style was to make fun of 50's western cliche's--interminably "past-due" pregnant pauses, camera rapidly flashing around all the eyes involved in a Mexican stand-off, riders riding FOREVER across ENDLESS vistas of scrub brush and fantastic desert rock formations, etc. Well here he ramps the humor up full throttle, joking on jokes to create the greatest western satire of all.
I know I'm stingy with ratings, but how this movie rates a 7.5 is beyond me.
First problem, Leone, possibly one of the greatest living directors of the last century, produced but did not direct. Second problem, by this time the so called "italian western" genre was imploding, and tending toward self-mockery.
Remember folks, just because it's not my bag doesn't mean it's a bad film...Il mio nome è Nessuno (My Name Is Nobody) is directed by Tonino Valerii and Sergio Leone and co-written by Leone, Fulvio Morsella and Ernesto Gastaldi.
Well, this was a highly entertaining western that is a bit like a spoof of Leone's previous films. Morricone even uses some of his music from Once Upon a Time in the West.
For me the movie is wonderful because of the acting ,expressions,sensuality and charisma of the handsome blue-eyed star Terence Hill,especially his close-ups.Also love the musical score the quirky characters and the originality of the whole movie.
