There is a 'Metallica' (qv) "St.

Anger" sticker (with the "St.

" torn off) on the right rear fender of Eric's Gremlin in 1991.

Anger" wasn't released until 2003.

When he arrives in Brighton Beach on a December night in 1991, Neil is seen noting where the closest subway stop is.

The Brighton Beach station sign shows a Q in a yellow circle and a Q in a yellow diamond.

But the "Q diamond" train was operating on that line for only a few years starting in the early 2000s.

Prior to that, the Brighton Beach stop serviced the "Q circle" and the D trains.

When Neil and Wendy are sitting in front of the drive-in theater listening to the speaker, Wendy's hair is in ponytails.

After some snow, her hair style turns to a normal cut and the ponytails are gone.

In the next shot they return.

When Coach records the voice of Neil he presses the Rec and Play button simultaneously on his tape recorder, but you can clearly see how the Play button flips right back again thus making the recording impossible.

Car approaches traffic signal.

Yellow light is a matrix of LEDs, but all yellow traffic lights in 1987 were incandescent bulbs.

Minivan and passenger car seen parked at 32:44 were manufactured after 2000.

Multiple characters are seen using models of Pilot pens that did not exist at the time.

When Neil looks in his fridge in 1991, cans of Diet Coke and Sprite are visible which are of post-1991 designs.

When Brian and Neil break into coaches house.

Niel goes in the left small window of a 3 window.

When they cut to inside and Niel helps Brian into a single larger window.

Brian's room features a poster of Suicidal Tendencies' "The Art of Rebellion", which did not come out in 1991, when the events are taking place, but in 1992 (June).

The scene of Neal running in downtown New York after leaving his john with AIDS is actually Downtown Los Angeles.

It seems to me that Gregg Araki is much more comfortable with images than with words. It's with the unspoken that this film is most powerfully conveyed, and with the spoken portions that diminish it somewhat.

I wish I loved this more but it just isn't my thing. The first 30 minutes are really rough to watch, I just couldn't vibe with the characters and the whole alien thing was out of the place.

First of all. I'd say I tried to watch this movie about an year ago with my friends but they all started yelling at its content.

***but, i would rather call these things warnings than spoilers*** ---MUST READ--- the mindless rotten fools reviews made me watch this movie, but its a sick film, all the nasty things allover the movie & i am wondering how the heck they gained the positive feed from so many, are these reviewer guys or gays? how do a 2mins confession at the climax can make it powerful movie??

This is quite simply an awful movie. It''s essentially a film that says child sexual abuse is OK and in the process suggests it turns it's abused gay.

The movie is great. Maybe too realistic if you suffered any kind of abuse as a child.

Misleading descriptions leave out that this is essentially softcore homosexual pornography first 24 minutes that I saw were nothing but graphic pedophilia and homosexual prostitution, nothing about a hustler, nothing about aliens other than they look like child rapists.Movie's description should be updated to include: A flaming homosexual does a bunch of gay stuff and some guy shows up every few minutes with a nose bleed.

I have a special love for films that portray the desperation, impatience, and soul-searching of youth where the world is composed of midnight rendezvous in serviceable cars that get parked in local playgrounds and where conversation is sustained by common passions and dreams. A world where the rest of the world hasn't fully invaded yet and so dreams flourish and therefore energize the will.

Good movie it is so realistic and gave you an experience. I would recommend this movie to anyone who suffer from trauma.
