After Jake does the final kick to Ryan, when he turns to see Baja (camera on Baja), his face appears flawless (no cuts, no scratches).

Then when the camera turns back to Jake, his face has cuts, scratches.

During the fight scene when Jake gets out of the car to fight the three guys in the Yellow Hummer, Max lifts up his video camera after Jake throws his first punch, but after the fight, when all of the students are watching the fight on the net at school, it shows that Max is recording before the fight even begins.

In the opening scene, the football commentator calls a third down, but the man holding the "stick" at the side of the pitch clearly shows a second down.

During the Beatdown, when Jake is facing Dak-Ho, right as Ho delivers a hard back kick in response to Jake's right cross, the camera clearly shows Dak-Ho's right foot kicking Jake's ribs.

But, when the camera zooms out, it shows Dak-Ho just used his left foot for that last kick.

When Max tells Jake "The Beatdown is tomorrow night," his lips and his words do not match up.

During Jake's fight with the guys from the Hummer, he throws one of them into the vehicle's side-view mirror.

In the first shot, it is seen to be the passenger side mirror.

In the next shot, it is obviously the driver side mirror, and then in the last shot, it goes back to the passenger side.

In the fight with the guys in the yellow hummer, he is thrown in front of a Silver car, and it looks as if he narrowly makes it out of the way.

But when we see what is recorded on the camera, the car comes nowhere near him and he's already running back towards the other guys while the car is veering long before it would have even reached him At the party at Ryan's house, Max exclaims that "Force times mass equals acceleration!" when the actual physics equation isMass times acceleration equals force.

When Roqua says he hasn't seen his family in seven years he only holds up five fingers.

When Jake arrives at Sean's gym on the first morning, there is daylight present.

This would be at 5AM, since Sean told him to be there at 6AM and he shows up an hour early according to what Sean says.

This is never possible for Orlando, Fl.

iPhones were used throughout the movie to record the fights.

This movie was released in 2008, video capability for the iPhone wasn't available until Summer of 2009.

On the scene when Jake fights Roqua at the Gym, Uou can clearly see on the first fight, how the punch mitt disappears and appears between scenes on Roqua's left hand.

When Jake goes to the gym after sticking up for Baja in the parking lot, he throws a kick to Roqua's head while he trains him, in which Roqua has to duck.

Later in the movie, when he's training, it shows that he cannot kick that high.

The first time Jake ever goes to Roqua's gym, he spars with Miles.

He throws a punch early in the match, and you can hear the breath he takes when throwing the punch.

The next day, Jake learns that you should breathe out when you punch.

Ryan's father's watch changes positions between shots, from right to left hand.

During Charlie's tennis match we see him lose a point and the announcer calls Deuce.

The next point passes and the announcer calls 40-30.

You then hear deuce called again moments later.

We then see Charlie win a point and the announcer once again calls deuce.

It is then announced on the next point that Charlie wins the game without advantage ever being called.

During the fight between Dak-Ho and Jake, Dak Ho lands a kick to Jake's ribs which is clearly seen as his right leg.

Next shot, Dak Ho is lowering his left leg.

OK it's a 2008 version of the Karate kid with a bit of bite added to it, but if you're a UFC fan you'll enjoy the fight sequences and it could be worth a go. The main character is a bit angry to be a Danny from the Karate Kid films but the story follows the same principles non the less.

The Plot: Jake Tyler is a troubled kid, reliving the death of his father, by letting him drive drunk, and not taking the key's and driving himself. At a new high school he is lured into a fight against a ultimate fighting champion and gets the hell kicked out of him.

I don't know about the critics but I love this film. the quality of action, and filmography is really great.

Simple story, no twist, no subplot and average direction makes a ordinary movie. Fight sequences are not impressive.

Ok, so all these 'martial arts' films have the same general premise. Wronged protagonist seeks revenge on antagonist who wronged them one way or another at the start of the story.

Overall I found Never Back Down entertaining, although there wasn't anything about it that I feel was "great". The storyline has been used time and time again, but for fans of the genre it is worth your time to take this film for a spin.

As a big fan of the early 90's martial arts movies featuring such greats as Jean Claude Van Damme, Jeff Wincott, and Michael Worth etc, there doesn't seem to many great martial arts movies out there at the moment that really gets the blood pumping. There seems to be more focus on CGI, wire work and speed manipulation than some good old fight choreography - (with exception of the Undisputed series, and Blood and Bone - both of which were awesome).

Never an original moment...Never great acting...

Jake Tyler (Sean Faris) is an angry young man after the death of his father in a drunk driving incidence. He's a football player that is constantly in trouble.
