Audie Murphy, the ex-WWII hero, also the most decorated hero of that same global war, deviates from the norm in this Universal-International western he is usually a tough straight guy, but here he is a mean, cold, feared bounty hunter, despite the fact that he is his boyish-looking self. The Old West town, Lordsburg, though rough-looking has appeal because of the color of the movie.
I don't know that many of Audie Murphy's movies by its title but No Name on the Bullet is in my opinion one of his finest and remarkable works. The story: a hired gunslinger (Murphy) arrives at a small town, his presence alone makes the life of many citizens uneasy (especially those with a guilty conscience) - who's the man paid to kill!?

Audie Murphy is perfectly cast in the lead role with the film attaining much suspense from the question of whether Murphy really is who he says he is after all, he is so young and "sounds more like a preacher" with the way he constantly waxes philosophical about life.

This is a pretty snappy little gem here. The dialogue is sharp and to the point,and often pretty darn funny.
