Audie Murphy, the ex-WWII hero, also the most decorated hero of that same global war, deviates from the norm in this Universal-International western he is usually a tough straight guy, but here he is a mean, cold, feared bounty hunter, despite the fact that he is his boyish-looking self. The Old West town, Lordsburg, though rough-looking has appeal because of the color of the movie.

I don't know that many of Audie Murphy's movies by its title but No Name on the Bullet is in my opinion one of his finest and remarkable works. The story: a hired gunslinger (Murphy) arrives at a small town, his presence alone makes the life of many citizens uneasy (especially those with a guilty conscience) - who's the man paid to kill!?

A hired assassin has found a perfect way in which to evade justice : he provokes his victims until they attack him in front of witnesses, which allows him to kill them in a fair duel or a case of self-defense. A peerless shooter, the assassin travels all through the country, growing richer with each new assignment.

When John Gant , a softy-spoken, baby-faced Audie Murphy , rides into Lordsburg, the town's folk become paranoid as each leading citizen has enemies seeking revenge , only none of the citizens know who the intented victim is . As the notorious hired gun whose arrival in town means a mission to kill , but who ?.

Audie Leon Murphy established himself as a real life icon and role model for his fans throughout his twenty years of movie making. During that long film career Audie was never seen as a Black Hat heavy.

Paranoia grips an Old West town when an infamous assassin arrives but refuses to reveal who he has been hired to kill in this nifty mix of western and mystery elements. Audie Murphy is perfectly cast in the lead role with the film attaining much suspense from the question of whether Murphy really is who he says he is after all, he is so young and "sounds more like a preacher" with the way he constantly waxes philosophical about life.

A lone rider asks directions to Lordsburg, where he arrives and is quickly identified, and word spreads that John Gant, an assassin for hire, is in town. Every man has an enemy, and the townsfolk each begin to speculate whether they are the killer's intended victim.

All the usual suspects in this film ... charles drake, warren stevens, r.

This is a pretty snappy little gem here. The dialogue is sharp and to the point, and often pretty darn funny.
