When Brian and Barbara are sitting at her table, Barbara's cigarette has an inconsistent length.

When Barbara tries to tear away Sheba to return to the vet's office with her, the front passenger-side door of Sheba's automobile is opened/closed from shot to shot.

When Barbara visits Sheba for the first time, she's carrying a bouquet.

She sits in the living room and puts her left arm over the flowers.

In the next shot, her arm is under.

When Sheba is rampaging through Barbara's house in search of her journal, you can see a crew member in the mirror behind her as she goes to sit.

The LP that Steven picks up in Sheba's workshop is "Kaleidoscope" by Siouxsie and the Banshees (1980).

The band's song that plays over the scene, however, is "Dizzy," which was first released as a single in 1992.

When Sheba goes up to her daughter's bedroom, she is listening to music on headphones, which disappear too quickly between shots.

When Sheba confronts Barbara about her diary, the makeup (eyeliner) she has smudged by crying changes.

One moment she had dark thick eyeliner on, the next moment she has very little of eyeliner still on, and then the eyeliner comes back as before.

Steven is stated as being fifteen years old and in Year 10.

Pupils become fifteen during Year 10 (except in exceptional circumstances).

Later in the film, Sheba states that he is going to be sixteen in May, i.

he was already fifteen before entering Year 10.

In Notes on a Scandal, Judi Dench plays Barbara Covett, a spinster history teacher at a British public school, who narrates the story with tart, dolorous wit. A self-described "battle-axe", she is so ensconced by her own loneliness, so embittered by her inability to achieve intimacy with another human, that she has turned inwardly toxic.

Judi Dench as Barbara Covett in Notes On A Scandal is a complete wretch to watch on screen. However she still manages to invoke pity and sympathy for.

This film is absolutely brilliant! The character played by Judy Dench is really believable.

The two leading actresses in this film are both lonely. That is the common denominator which makes their toxic bond possible.

There is so much I could say about this film, I first watched it about six years ago and have revisited it probably once a year since. This film has always stayed with my since my first viewing, crouched in the back of my mind waiting to be explored all over again.

I thought this is going to be a very boring film but apparently against all odds, it proved me wrong. The film and screenplay are beautifully crafted.

Notes On A Scandal using a technique developed by Eugene O'Neill in Strange Interlude tells the story of a pair of middle school teachers Judy Dench and Cate Blanchett. It is through Dench that we see the drama unfold.

'Notes on a scandal' begins exhilarating. The setting of a state school where it seems to be teachers vs.

Quite by chance, I happened to see "Notes on a Scandal" and the recent "Philomena" in the same weekend, thus giving me a chance to see Judi Dench displaying two aspects of her acting talents playing two very different characters. Philomena Lee, the heroine of the recent film, is a gentle, sympathetic elderly lady, someone with great reserves of inner strength and great powers of forgiveness, even though she has been unjustly treated.
