Amount of snow in town, and seasons in general.

The stick of dynamite that Barret throws away after it is dropped by the Preacher explodes much too soon considering the length of the fuse still attached to it.

When Barret throws a stick of dynamite into the tent, it lands near the front of the tent.

The explosion comes from inside the tent.

After the explosion the lit fuse of the thrown dynamite can clearly be seen.

When Hull Barret rides into town by himself on the wagon he is fine.

When riding out with The Preacher after the fight you can see a cast on his arm.

It is also visible as he mounts the wagon.

Back in camp, it's fine again.

During the final gunfight, one of the gunslingers walks under a roof overhang on the side of a building where what appears to be a pair of aluminum colored floodlight housings can be seen.

When Preacher splashes the man holding a lit match over Barret's wagon with a bucket of water, he actually fails to put the match out.

When Megan picks up her dog which has just been shot dead the dog's body is stiff, an obvious prop.

When Megan is shouting after Preacher at the end of the film, she calls his name twice - the echo following the second time she calls does not match her voice.

When Coy La Hood gets on the horse for the first time, there is a rip in the seat of his pants.

Barrett speaks of a four ounce nugget being a quarter-pound of gold.

Precious metals (gold, silver and platinum) are measured by Troy weight, which has 12 ounces per pound.

In the final showdown, Stockburn is shot several times by the Preacher.

In the next shot, small rivulets of blood are shown running out of the bullet holes.

Considering that Stockburn is wearing a trenchcoat over a suit, it's unlikely blood would just trickle out onto the coat like that - not to mention a gunshot wound would probably bleed a little more profusely.

Before Marshal Stockburn shoots Spider Conway's large gold filled rock in half you can see that it is already split in half before Stockburn fires.

In the final showdown, the various scenes are cloudy, overcast and then sunny between shots.

When the preacher approaches Stockburn he unlocks his firearm to re-chamber it.

The bullet chamber he chooses is visibly empty yet he locks it in place and kills Marshall Stockburn.

However, this could be a deliberate choice by the filmmakers, in line with other suggestions that the Preacher is some kind of mystical character.

Early in the film, during the bad guys hooraw through tin-panner's camp, one member of the gang is clearly shown shooting a 1872 Colt Single Action Army revolver at a steer.

The film is set prior to the availability of the SAA and all other revolvers shown throughout the film are Colt cartridge conversions of the 1860 Army model, or the Preacher's cartridge conversion Remington.

When the preacher shoots Stockburn, bullet holes can be seen at the back of his trench coat.

A few moments later as Stockburn is collapsing, there are no holes in the rear of his coat.

When Stockburn is finally on the ground, the holes in the rear of his coat are present again.

When the Preacher rescues Megan Wheeler from the attempted rape by Josh, a modern bra strap can briefly be seen on her shoulder as she rides away on the Preacher's horse.

When the Preacher shoots Stockburn at the end of the movie the camera angle shows his back and you can see the bullet holes on the left side of his coat, when Stockburn is shown from the front the bullet holes are on the right side of his coat.

When Hull drives off in his cart after visiting town and being saved from a beating by the Preacher, a modern white bandage and finger splint can be seen on Hull's left hand.

It disappears in later shots.

One of Stockburn's bad guy deputies, actor John Dennis Johnston, appears earlier in the film as one of the pan-handlers, during Michael Moriarty's night-time fire-side speech about not taking the $1000 to get out of town.

When Club splits a rock in two, the point where the rock cracks open is notably lower compared to the part the hammer actually hits.

After the preacher left, the men find a huge nugget in the dry river.

The man holds it easily in one hand.

A nugget of that size would weigh at least 30 kilos (66 pounds).

Disclaimer: If you are a viewer that mainly prefers art-house-type movies, then you might as well ignore this review. In addition, if you're not able to take Clint Eastwood's best climaxed action packed masterpiece western film, ignore this review, as well.

A group of small time goldminers are harassed once again by thugs from big goldminer LaHood. In desperation, Sarah Wheeler (Carrie Snodgress) prays for a savior.

Clint Eastwood directed and stars in this western, where he plays Preacher, a mysterious man who appears from the snowy mountains just in time to help a besieged group of gold prospectors who are being terrorized by thugs hired by the local landowner Coy LaHood(played by Richard Dysart) who wants to jump their claims and strip-mine the area for his own profit. The miners(led by Hull Barrett, played by Michael Moriarity) refuse to leave, but do welcome the help of Preacher, who is adored by Megan Wheeler(played by Sidney Penny) and her mother(played by Carrie Snodgress).

In the 80's the western movies weren't really popular . It was a good time for science fiction and fantasy movies , since the special effects became really professional then .

There is a lot of beautiful scenery in 'Pale rider', which is probably the best thing about it. The story, about a group of 'tin pans' who are in conflict with the big shot gold digger who owns most of the land around them, and more specifically, the girl who prays to the Lord to help them and then a tall, dark stranger is sent their way, could have worked, but things stay pretty simple, clichéd and blunt.

Pale Rider is a brilliant movie with a very well developed storyline with a very impressive cast. The movie stars and is directed by Clint Eastwood, who is no stranger to westerns, and his character isn't much different than the character he plays in the Dollars trilogy, but this movie has a lot more heart and is much more sweet than any western i've ever seen,i'm not saying that westerns should have more heart, but seeing some western characters with stronger emotions was refreshing and different.

Clint Eastwood stars and also directs this film about a mysterious stranger who stops to help and defend a village in trouble. So it's pretty much an example of Eastwood's personal vision about what a good western should be.

Its a great movie, that I can't imagine being delivered by anyone else than Clint Eastwood. It sets a nice brooding atmosphere as you wait for the inevitable to take place.

Pale Rider has a Cult-classic like reputation, but frankly, is undeserved. It's a very weak attempt by Clint Eastwood to close the "man-with-no-name" circle of films, and kinda retire him.
