If you're after a movie with some imaginative CGI and a story line you can breeze in and out of, this movie might be a nice bit of escapism for you! Jeff Bridges is a stand out performance, Ryan Reynolds plays off him quite nicely, but ultimately the willing suspension of disbelief is stretched way too far.

This was one of the WORST movies of the decade. From the start the premise was flawed.

A cop(Ryan Reynolds) is killed by his partner(Kevin Bacon), instead of going to heaven is brought to an after life police department called R.I.

I watched RIPD last night and, even as I watched and knew it wasn't that good, I was also aware that there was a nice little idea in there struggling to get out. Mostly it felt and looked like a low-budget rip-off of MEN IN BLACK and GHOSTBUSTERS so, allied with the very cheap-looking "deadie" creatures (OK, a little BEETLEJUICE DNA in there as well) it was as though I'd fallen through a time-warp and was back in the 80s.

Was it entertaining? A bit.

From Robert Schwentke, the director of OK movies like RED and The Time Traveller's Wife, this summer we got R.I.

Even though this movie has a decent cast, I was deceived with their inconvincible and horrendous acting throughout the movie, except for Jeff Bridge's performance as a Wild west sheriff who proved to be almost fun to watch. However, this doesn't forgive its awful direction hence the film starts off with a cheesy and fast paced introduction and the mediocre story then continues with low stakes chases and action scenes.

A police officer is killed on duty, however, he is recruited by the Rest In Peace Department who capture 'Deados' that escape the afterlife. Sent back to Earth as a ghost with a new body of an old man he is partnered with a ghost cowboy who to the living looks like a leggy blonde.

I read a few reviews of this movie before I saw it and they were all saying it was pretty bad so I wasn't expecting much. This movie doesn't break any new ground, it is formulaic, it doesn't coax the best performances from the actors, but it is entertaining and engaging through the whole film and I enjoyed it.
