The salt and pepper shakers at the first diner.

In Raymond's final evaluation scene, the tray of glasses in the middle of the table moves back and forth.

Reflection of crew members on the hood of the Buick when Raymond is about to drive in Las Vegas.

When Susanna gets mad at Charlie and storms out of the tub, Charlie's sweats have a different pattern of water splashes than when she goes out the door.

In the laundromat the dryer on the left of Raymond is closed/open between shots.

Raymond takes pictures throughout the movie with a 126 film camera.

We see, under the credits, the pictures he had taken and they are all rectangular in shape, when 126 film makes square pictures.

While watching Charlie play blackjack, one of the casino security officers says that "no one can count through a six deck shoe".

In fact, this is quite possible for someone with just basic math skills to do using the "hi-lo" counting method.

A security officer of any major casino should know this.

The story line states that 8,095 Buick Roadmaster Convertibles were made for 1949.

This is incorrect; the actual total is 8,244.

When Charlie, Raymond and Susanna are in the casino on the way to Raymond's date, just before Charlie is asked to see head of security you can see in the mirrored pillar the reflection of a woman motioning extras to walk past the camera.

While Raymond and Charlie are seated in the 'toothpick' restaurant scene, the salt and pepper pots change position several times.

Laundromat scene was supposed to be in Tucumcari, N.

The town of Tucumcari is larger and has no tall, red-rock mountains in the background.

It's on the edge of the high plains, but does have some small mesas west of town.

From the time they left the farmhouse in western Oklahoma, they supposedly passed some country with mountains in the background (west) between there and Amarillo, Texas.

There are no mountains in that part of western Oklahoma (though some small ones exist farther south near Lawton and Altus) - and the nearest "mountain" on that route would be Tucumcari Mountain.

The card scheme with all the Queens is repeated several times during the course of Charlie's play.

"The People's Court" and "Wheel of Fortune" are syndicated TV shows, and, therefore, air at different times of the day in different TV markets - but Raymond is able to watch them at the same time each day (a change in the TV schedule would have been traumatic for him) during his cross-country trip.

While crossing the Suspension Bridge in Cincinnati (the 'singing bridge' that Raymond hums along to), the traffic in the background suggests that the bridge is either 4 lanes, or a one-way street.

In fact, the bridge has only 2 lanes, one northbound and one southbound.

Bruner implies that Raymond has been at Wallbrook since 1960, but Raymond later says he was taken there January 21, 1965.

When Charlie and Raymond stop for the night at the Honeymoon Haven Motel, the sign for U.

60 is on the wrong side of the road.

It should be on the opposite side, facing the oncoming traffic.

In the blackjack scene when the dealer pays a $4000 winning bet, he is one chip off, thus stealing $100 from Charlie.

When Charlie and Raymond are leaving Cincinnati the sun is still up.

Later, when Raymond gets out of the car on the side of the highway, it appears that the sun has been down for a few hours.

At this point, a sign for Interstate 275 is visible on the side of the road.

I275 makes a large loop around Cincinnati area, which would suggest that they had been driving in a circle for a few hours.

WOXY, "97X, Bam! The Future of Rock and Roll," was a small, independent radio station located in Oxford, Ohio, about 30 miles north of Cincinnati.

Clear reception would have been practically impossible on the Southeast side of Downtown.

Throughout the movie, several cars are seen tailgating the Buick trying to get into the shot, and their positions vary from scene to scene.

Raymond tells Charlie in the bathroom on the day he (Rain Man) was taken from his Ohio home that there was 7.

2 inches of snow ("very snowy that day").

Yet, according to the Farmer's Almanac, there was no precipitation anywhere near Cincinatti on that day, which reached a high temperature of 45 degrees.

When Charlie and Ray drive back to Las Vegas, an extra can be seen darting back into a nearby building as their Buick drives by.

After Ray gets on the train to go home, the scene of Charlie looking is in a loop, as evidenced by his head weaving back and forth.

After Charlie, Raymond and Susanna leave the casino and Raymond is driving along the next road, a police car can be seen in the background holding back traffic.

When Charlie arrives at Susanna's apartment (Ocean View Apartments), the sun is in a completely different position when he pulls away only a few seconds later.

At Charlie's house, Raymond opens the freezer door to get some frozen waffles, then goes to the toaster oven and turns it on despite the fact that he did not put anything in it.

Yet, a mere 30 seconds later, smoke is coming out and sets off the smoke detector, not nearly enough time to burn anything, let alone even warm up.

Rain man,not as great as i think, but its good.Movie deals with a selfish money minded person, who does take care of his mentally retarded marvelous minded elder brother because of 3 million dollars, which had legally belongs to him by his late father.

"Rain Man" is a classic road movie drama about two brothers, one who's a selfish prat and one who has autism and of course by the end of the film Dustin's simple nature shapes Tom as a person who learns to love and not ruled by money.Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise certainly looked like brothers with there massive conks (that's noses) and small eyes and both put on great performances.

Nowadays there's lots of movies similar to Rain Man (or at least with a similar lesson, which, I think is - to appreciate person for the way he/she is), so it's may not appear so effective as it was back then in 80's. But it's still worth viewing.

A perfect movie to watch on any day. Dustin Hoffman's best performance doubtlessly.

I was recommended this movie more than once and while I certainly did enjoy it, the reason why it's praised so much is lost to me. It's a good movie, don't get me wrong - plot is solid, characters are interesting and acting was decent (Hoffman was great, Cruise and actress playing Susanna less so).

Barry Levinson's 1988 Academy Award for Best Picture winner Rain Man is of course most famous for Dustin Hoffman's astonishing performance as an autistic savant. But to simply remember it for that alone is to do it a disservice it isn't Hoffman alone that makes it a good film.

Rain Man took me a while to get into, but once I did, I was totally absorbed in the film. The story is about somewhat of a snob of a man, Charlie Babbit.

A special experience of well done drama, well deserving of the 4 Oscar wins! I have Asperger's syndrome I love this movie very much and understand so much of it.

In the case of "Rain Man," I gathered three attributes from listening to others talk about this movie for so many years - the quotability, the comedy and the fact that it kind of doesn't age well.
