When Thorn is in the Soylent Green factory, he knocks two factory employees off the catwalk.

A stunt mattress can clearly be seen sticking out from underneath the conveyor belt where the second one lands.

When Thorn goes into the bedroom, the drink in his hand switches from a highball glass to a tumbler, then back to a highball glass.

When Sol is in the suicide theater his bed changes position.

In the scene where Thorn "uses" the furniture, his ascot goes from on to off too quickly for him to have tied it.

When Thorn is running towards the "going home" building, his head disappears into the matte just before the shot cuts.

Later in the same scene, as he sees Sol "going home", part of his arm disappears behind the orange wall seen through the window.

When Thorn is running to the euthanasia building to try and stop Sol, he is limping from just having been shot in the leg.

He gets there too late, so he follows Sol's body as it is disposed of.

He goes through a long sequence in which he is repeatedly required to dart, scurry and jump, which he accomplishes with nimbleness and no sign of the leg injury.

Later, as he is fleeing gunmen in the running shootout, he is limping again.

When Thorne is talking to Sol in the "suicide facility", at one point the inter-phone starts malfunctioning and the "speaking permitted" light starts to blink.

If you look at the cable coming out from the lower-left corner of the device, you'll notice that they are obviously alternating two still frames to achieve the blinking effect, as it jumps erratically from one position to another.

A futurist drama, -SOYLENT GREEN- is not -CASABLANCA- on steroids but neither did they know about the future: Can you predict it? -INTERPOL-, International Crime Police, is an organization parallel to the United Nations, or U.

The 1970's was a curious decade. Movies from that period have a particular 'look' that's hard to define but quite clearly dates them.

Not an action movie, more of a detective one with a mystery and a "shock" ending that have become iconic. That said, the movie is kind of bland and Heston is such a jerk character that it's hard to root for him.

Why is there so much hate for Soylent Green? It's truly the definition of an underrated film, a sci-fi classic and one of the few true cinematic examples of real speculative fiction.

It's New York about thirty years from now, crowded beyond belief, polluted, filled with garbage, uncomfortably hot all year round, and all commodities scarce except for the tasteless crackers called Soylent -- just like the rest of the world.Charlton Heston is a New York City cop cooped up with his crotchety friend and researcher (his "book", because books are scarce), Edward G.

Charlton Heston stars as New York City Detective Thorn, who, along with his partner Sol Roth(Edward G. Robinson, his last film) investigate the brutal murder of a top executive at Soylent industries, a global company that produces valuable "foodstuffs" for the overpopulated and undernourished people of the year 2022, in which the Earth is now polluted and running out of resources.

Well, this is the future and I'm sorry to report it does not look good for women. Just about every female in this film is either a hag or a whore.

It's the year 2022 and the world has completely gone to hell. Overpopulation has strangled the planet, nature as we know it has ceased to exist.

I think I watched 'Soylent Green' about 4 times: around 1980 on TV when the movie was quite new, in the 1990s on videotape, in the 2000s on DVD and 2013 on Blu-ray disc. Each decade, the world resembles the world 'Soylent Green' described a bit more.
