When Dr.

Peterson enters the library at the mental hospital, The word "LIBRARY" is clearly visible on the door in large letters.

When she exits, it is gone.

When John Ballantine, after seeing snow in Dr.

Brulov's house, drops and breaks a cup full of coffee, no coffee spills on the carpet.

Instead, we see some thin black disc made from wood or plastic pasted into the cup.

When Dr.

Brulov wakes J.

to ask about his dreams, J.

's hair is very messed up.

However, when Dr.

Peterson enters the room with coffee a couple of minutes later, J.

's hair is neat, even though he hasn't combed it.

The envelope which John Ballantine slips under the door of Dr.

Peterson's room remains close the door and with its border parallel to the door bottom line.

Later it appears a little distant from the door and skewed.

The burn on JB's hand is only visible during the scene where they talk about it.

It disappears in every other scene where his hand is visible (like when he is sitting on the couch with Dr Brulow).

At the end of the movie when Dr.

Murchison points the revolver at Dr.

Petersen, he is holding a large frame Colt New Service.

45 with a 5 1/2" barrel, when he turns the gun on himself he is holding a medium frame Smith & Wesson model 10.

38 with a 4" barrel.

In his first scene Michael Chekov's hair changes.

When the hotel bellboy brings the newspaper to Constance he notices her photograph on the front page.

Freeze-framing reveals that the articles adjacent to the photograph are actually random paragraphs of text.

When Ballentine and Dr.

Murchison shake hands after they are first introduced, one of the staff members in the background has his right hand in his jacket.

In the next shot, both hands are clasped in front of him.

Right before Dr.

Peterson gets a letter from Dr.

Edwards, she cleans her glasses on her coat and the position of her hands varies between shots.

After buying tickets for Rome, the placement of the money in Dr.

Peterson's right hand changes between shots When Dr Murchison turns the gun on himself, the camera assumes the viewpoint of Murchison himself, looking at this own hands holding the gun.

But the hands shown are very clearly made of wood - they are extremely unrealistic, like those on a ventriloquist's dummy.

The position of Peterson's hands on Edwardes' bedpost changes between shots.

Peterson's position behind Edwardes while in line to buy train tickets changes.

When Dr.

Brulov asks Dr.

Constance to see her notes, he takes out his pencil from his jacket twice.

When Dr.

Brulov asked Dr.

Constance to see her notes, her bow tie will change in its shape and position in the next scene.

There's much that's wrong with "Spellbound," but it has a way of keeping you watching.Dr.

Once again like Alfred Hitchcock's other movie"Notorious " the direction, acting, cinematography and editing were all top notchup even up today 75 years after its first release But this time I found the script to be even weaker than "Notorious " and as such this movie from Alfred Hitchcock was at best an average one for me. All I can say that about Gregory Peck in this particular film is that he looked very handsome with a matching personality.

Spellbound is a good movie with a very well developed storyline and a really impressive cast that all play their characters with great heart and passion. It definitely wasn't what I was expecting it to be,mostly because its directed by Alfred Hitchcock, its suppose to be a thriller but I wasn't very thrilled,I thought the story was really good, but it just wasn't that exciting, and a story like that sounds like they could have made it a lot more mysterious and strange.

For a number of reasons this is one of my favorite Hitchcock films. My review is based on the Blu Ray edition of the film, and let me begin by commenting about that.

"Spellbound" is a good documentary that details children from all regions of the country, who are about to compete against each other in the National Spelling Bee.The film gives real insight into what kind of isolated lives many of these children live.

Many of Hitchcock's films include dream elements and deal with the caprices of the human memory. 'Spellbound' approaches these themes from the angle of psychoanalysis which was quite an innovative approach in the American cinema at that time.

Somehow Ye-jin Son's movies had impressed me earlier and this one followed maybe its her innocent acting or attraction or charisma which binds and hooks me to keep watching. However, saying so, that does not mean the storyline and acting are not good.

Henry James ' short story (a dozen of pages) dealt with a ghost story ,Gothic style his novella "turn of the screw " spawned a horror classic ("the innocents " by Jack Clayton 1961) and "the ghostly rental " was successfully adapted here as a MTV film "la redevance du fantôme" .In "The friends of our friends " ,the storyteller tells about a woman's story ,based on an imaginary diary :it provides the movie with its outline : vision of a person at the moment of his/her death ,jealousy of a dead one ..

I just steadily lost investment in this film as it proceeded along. There's also something very mechanical at the heart of Hitchcock's films, especially those that center around chases.
