This was perhaps the most powerful 'fiction' movie I have seen in a long time. Seriously this movie moved me in ways I expected and not.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" is a fictional story that offers a unique perspective on how prejudice, hatred and violence affect innocent people, particularly children, during wartime. The movie is situated in WWII, the holocaust seen through the innocent eyes of Bruno, an eight year old kid and his forbidden friendship with Shmuel, a Jewish boy captive in a concentration camp.
Boy this is a sad movie. As many of you know I am a huge fan of sad movies and when I saw the trailers for this movie, I just knew.
...and probably more of an insult to the intelligence of >1,100,000 Jews who died in Auschwitz than, say, Mein Kampf.
Having read so many reviews regarding this film I was hoping for a masterpiece such as Schindler's List. I was always concerned however about the idea that a German boy could play with a Jewish prisoner through the external camp wire.
An earlier poster has described this as 'the holocaust for dummies', and it certainly is. I'm not going to step into the mire of factual accuracy, simply state that not one aspect of it presented the least appearance of realism.
Can't wait to see "Striped pyjamas-- the musical",with SS guards singing "Springtime for Hitler". I thought "Asylum" was the worst film I'd ever seen,but "The boy in striped pyjamas " has surpassed that.
