During the film's denouement, Holmes reveals who the murderer is and offers as proof the murderer's supposed resemblance to the portrait of Sir Hugo Baskerville.

Holmes emphasizes this by standing in front of the painting and matting out the hair and beard with his hands, so the audience can appreciate the similarities of the two men.

However, the right-sided semi-profile becomes a left-sided close-up when it is framed in order to match the close-up of the killer.

Watson's left hand as he his writing his first, second and fourth letters back to Sherlock Holmes.

The film is set in 1889, but when Holmes searches the moor with his pocket lantern, it is obvious the prop had been retrofitted with an electric light-bulb instead of an alcohol fueled flame.

After Holmes and Mortimer sit, Holmes has his pipe in his right hand in his lap, then in his left hand raised.

When Mortimer says "not a soul would have believed it" his left hand is not on his stick, but it is immediately after.
