The last lines were probably the most effective I've ever heard...

What I like about this movie are the sets, the locations and the editing. As a viewer I could really believe that I am looking into Eastern Germany in the 1980s.

Don't believe the hype, this movie has the word "OVERRATED" written all over it.

And there are many kinds of feelings in the world. In this movie, Dreyman and Wiesler are neither friendship nor love.

A really fascinating story of a world I knew little about. Well told by all players, this film is a great depiction of the human capacity for love, bravery, forgiveness and change under such a harsh regime.

With the latter half of his life, the ideal, silent and firm man was born, and finally he only got "Sonata for good people". Sometimes choosing to stick to one's own path is exchanged for happiness.

I was looking forward to watching this film due to it's high rating on IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes, but it was a total waste of time. The film was thoroughly boring, nothing much happened in the time available and anything that did happen was done in lack-lustre way.

We saw this movie as it came highly recommended. Honestly, I struggled.

I must say that ever since watching this picture I felt that it was grossly overrated, mainly because of its artistic limitations and because I felt that it does no justice to its hype. While the Stasi investigation methods portrayed here are definitely correct and meticulously researched by the director for a period of (reportedly) 1.
