This 2006 re-make of the Classic 1959 "The Shaggy Dog" is an adequate re-make in my opinion, although I do have more fond memories of the older version. That being said, then this 2006 version starring Tim Allen is still an entertaining and fun movie for the entire family.

Well, I'll be dog-gone.It was my sweet, little, 8 year-old nephew, TeddyBear, who excitedly picked out The Shaggy Dog at the local video store for the two of us to watch together....

This is a very average movie. Nothing special about it for sure.

Dave Douglas (Tim Allen) is just your average a-hole dad working on a case involving a company that secretly experiments on animals, one of them a dog they stole from Tibet that ages in backwards dog years, making him over 300 years old. The team, led by Robert Downey, Jr.

So Disneys' go to guy Allen is back in his Santa Clause mode, but this time he turns into a dog.He plays an assistant DA, who is trying to lock up some gut because he is accusing a huge corporation of testing on animals.

Charles Barton directed this wild Disney comedy that stars Tommy Kirk as Wilby Daniels, who comes into possession of an enchanted ring that transforms him into a big shaggy dog, which his parents(played by Fred MacMurray and Jean Hagen) can't quite believe, though his younger brother(played by Kevin Corcoran) thinks is great. When it turns out that the relative of the attractive new girl in town is really a spy, Wilby's trans-formative ability proves to be most handy at stopping him from stealing state secrets.

The most absurd thing about this is that Akon did a song for it.This 2006 remake of 1959's 'The Shaggy Dog' is very bad.

This family comedy is an example of how some films from the happiest place on earth just don't stand the test of time, as well as some actors. That's more than true for veteran actor Fred MacMurray, great in screwball comedies and the occasional bad guy role, but not very likeable in films like this.

Don't expect too much and you'll be fine (the budget obviously is a lot smaller than the big Disney version because it's just a TV movie). It's fun and the kids sure enjoyed watching the dog perform all those silly stunts!
