When it first appears that the goblins are roasting a cat, the fire is moving in reverse motion.

When Mallory and Jared are fighting at the beginning, Jared can be clearly seen to mouth Mallory's words.

After Jared and Mallory visit Lucinda, back at the house when Mallory takes Jared outside to show that the goblins are gone, she is not using the seeing stone.

Then she reacts when Hogsqueal approaches as if she can see him but in the next shot she acts like she can't see him.

Durring the fight scene in the house, Jarred throws several tomato bombs at the invaders.

He is shown having only 1 in his hand throughout the scene.

But when he throws the bomb and new one appears in his hand.

While fighting the goblins in their house, Helen (Jarred, Mallory, and Simon's mother) does not have the sight.

Half way through the fighting, the seeing stone disappears from her face, yet she can still see all of the creatures and continue fighting.

In order to kill a goblin from above, Jared pops a bag full of tomato sauce on it.

He holds the bag over his head but there is no sauce on him in the next shot.

Aunt Lucie has an American accent as a young girl in the flashback but a British accent as an old woman.

When Helen Grace is at her job just before she notices her children outside, she is being told by her coworker what to push on the keyboard.

She clearly is pushing random keys and not the ones spoken.

Despite a couple of setbacks, Spiderwick Chronicles comes out strong mixing a good amount of family fun and delicious CG effects. For every big hit success like The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter there's always the not-so-big and barely unnoticed The Seeker: The Dark is Rising (bet you haven't heard of it) and Bridge to Terabithia.

Upon moving into the run-down Spiderwick Estate with their mother, twin brothers Jared and Simon Grace, along with their sister Mallory, find themselves pulled into an alternate world full of faeries and other creatures.I've made up a theory: People who have read books that are turned into movies will be more harsh to judge the films unlike people who see movies without reading the book.

An extremely well done and entertaining movie. When her husband dumps the family, mom and the three kids move back to daddy's old home.

In the XXIth, it's no more a surprise to see a exploded family : this one is without a father and i suppose i should go along. Then, we go into a country manor lost in the woods and that is rather unexpected.

Call me blinded by nostalgia, but this movie is great. Yes, it has problems and noticeable errors, but for what the film is trying to do, I think it very much succeeds.

The Spiderwick Chronicles is a fine, family film in the tradition of Harry Potter and The Golden Compass, and like those other franchises, it is based on a beloved series of children's books. Although I would strongly argue that Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy (from which The Golden Compass comes) goes far beyond simple "good vs.

I don't understand why critics need to compare it to other movies for it to be determined as good. Overall, the acting was strong, especially Freddie's by playing two opposite-minded characters.

This film is a good if imperfect fantasy adventure film for children. It follows three child characters who accidentally unlock the world of supernatural creatures and have to fight them off.

Who would not want to hear a dark story in an ancient house, and discover a wonderful world around it? I think this film did a great job of illustrating to the viewer the experience it was aiming for, especially after realizing the big message in the film (no spoilers), that the circle that was around the house to protect it, eventually it became a completely different circle to which Arthur Spiderwick aimed - his family circle.
