It is a complete americanization of what might happen in a very rare situation. The movie doen't follow any logical timeline and to be quite honest doesn't really make any sense.

How anyone rates this beyond a 4 is amazing. Total waste of time (and too much time at that).

Married couple Pete (Paul Rudd) and Debbie (Leslie Mann) are just about to turn forty. Their children hate each other, their businesses are failing, they're on the verge of losing their house and, most worryingly, they're starting to fall out of love with each other.

This movie was different from it's predecessor Knocked up but had a lot to offer. Judd Apatow made this a funny yet serious film that was good for red box rental.

This is 40 is a funny movie that left me depressed. The dialog is witty but the characters have so many flaws that I couldn't like any of them.

This movie does a good job, at times, of conveying the trapped feelings parents can have when trying to fulfill all of their obligations. And how easy it is to avoid confrontations, by lying by omission.

From Judd Apatows previous films, it made people instant films and stars from the actors. This Is 40 is not a movie about aging.

I have two major complaints about this movie. 1.

I just sat through "This is 40" , and I think they should rename it "This is Pointless". This self indulgent , sloppy , lazy , whiny excuse for a movie should have never seen the light of day , and to think it made nearly $80 million at the box office is an embarrassment to people who have any taste for good filmmaking.
