After the altercation at the hotel, the bruises on Jacob's face keep changing between scenes.

When August hits Marlena, her diamond necklace disappears and reappears throughout the scene.

The night Jacob and Marlena run away, when Marlena rushes in Jacob's compartment, she wears a black satin robe over her dress which can also be seen when they are standing over the edge of the train ready to jump.

However, when they jump and start walking away from the trails, Marlena wears only her dress.

The satin robe reappears when they get in the hotel room.

As Jacob shakes Earl's hand, when he is about to meet August for the first time, the powder on Jacob's shoulders is gone.

When Marlena, Jacob, and August drink Champagne in a New York speakeasy, they drink from fluted glasses, but saucer glasses were used commonly in 1931.

Rex the lion is supposed to be without teeth, but in many shots can be seen with all of his teeth intact.

While in the speakeasy August leaves the table that he, Marlena and Jacob are sitting at.

Marlena is smoking a fairly short cigarette.

In the next scene, the cigarette is noticeably longer.

When Jacob is going to stab August in the bedroom Marlena has a black left eye.

The next morning when she comes to visit Jacob the black eye is gone.

Actually, it's not a black eye.

It's her make-ups that is blurred.

The Empire State Building is seen in the distant NYC skyline, complete with its TV tower.

The tower wasn't added to the building until 1951.

After their first dinner together, August is very drunk and Marlena carries him in their bedroom.

When she comes out again, where Jacob is sitting, she pulls the drapes together, but doesn't close them completely - there is a significant gap between them.

However, when Jacob leaves after Marlena has asked him to, the drapes are completely closed.

Double yellow center lines were not used on most roads in the United States until 1971.

Several shots prominently display a follow-spot, with the Strong manufacturers name in clear view, which wasn't available until the mid-50s.

August incorrectly states that Jacob is an Ivy League grad.

The movie which if follows the book takes place during 1931.

Although the term "Ivy Colleges" was in use early 1930's, "Ivy League" wasn't first used until the Christian Science Monitor published an article using it on February 7, 1935.

The "Ivy League" wasn't officially established until 1954.

When Marlena first appears with her horses and Silver Star before the performance, the horses wear halters.

However, in the circus ring when she is working them at liberty, they don't have halters on.

Cut to Marlena as she takes her bow, the line of horses rear behind her and all have on halters again.

I have to admit after reading the book i was mesmerized by the whole story and couldn't wait to see the film. Just like the book the film was elegant, sophisticated and very well written.

When most films marketed towards younger audiences are defined by manufactured special effects hinging on spectacle, it's a rather picturesque delight to see a sincerely involving teen-geared movie, comprised of real people and lifelike sets. The production designer has fashioned a convincing one-ring circus, and even the train itself has a persona.

I was so upset by this movie that I booted my computer back up and created an IMDb account just to review it. I like Reese Witherspoon and have nothing against Robert Pattinson my issue is with integrity (or even remote integrity) to the book.

OK, so I read the book (Like Water for Elephants, Sara Gruen) and it was so amazing I cried when I finished reading it, because it was like losing a dear friend. The movie got a pretty good wrap from the reviewers I saw (David and Margaret Pomeranz), and I like their reviews so watched it.

This is well made and wonderfully produced kitsch. It's source may be a well written novel but the film is a confection worthy of a low brow book club.

As usual not even close to the book with the exception of Rosie. I don't fault her screenplay for being significantly different than the book or the director for taking certain liberties to fit an entire novel into a 90 minute movie.

So Robert Pattinson actually can act? Apparently!

An old Jacob Jankowski (Robert Pattinson) recounts his life in the Benzini Circus and remembers the infamous disaster in 1931. Jacob was studying veterinary medicine when his parents die in a car accident and he loses everything.
